Check-in is from 4pm to 7pm. If you need to arrive earlier or later, please let us know so that we can plan for your arrival. Check-out is at 11am. Breakfast is served at 9am in the dining room. Coffee, tea, and other beverages are available earlier in the library. Full deposit is required when you make your reservation. We accept Visa, Discover, and MasterCard. If you cancel your reservation 7 or more days before your scheduled stay, you will receive a full refund of your deposit. If you cancel your reservation fewer than 7 days before your scheduled stay, we will issue your refund in the form of a gift certificate toward a future stay.

If you've never been to Historic Bluff Country, you are about to discover one of Minnesota's best kept secrets! Along with the beautiful and varied countryside, there are plenty of activities to keep you as busy as you want to be:

Outdoor adventures Lake Louise State Park - Over 1,100 acres for hiking, horseback riding, skiing, and snowmobiling. In addition, you can swim, boat, or fish in Lake Louise. Great place to view wildflowers and spot birds in migration. Golf - Choose from 17 courses within 25 miles of The William Strong House. The Root River Trail - More than 60 miles of paved trails that run through the picturesque rural communities along the Root River. Niagara Cave - One of the state's largest caves, with 60-ft waterfall, crystal wedding chapel, stalactite room, and fossils. Newer attraction is a gemstone mining sluice. Eagle Bluff Environmental Learning Center - Home of many unique learning experiences, including outdoor skills training, environmental classes for all ages, and a high ropes course. Canoeing - The Root River has a gentle to moderate flow and is excellent for scenic day trips. Fishing - Blue-ribbon trout streams abound in this lovely part of the state. Historic and cultural activities Forestville State Park and Mystery Cave - A restored 1800s village that is operated by the Minnesota Historical Society. Also has more than 3,000 acres of hiking, trout fishing, wildflowers, and caving. Methodist Church Museum and Laura Ingalls Wilder Site - Built in 1876, this church had Almanzo and Laura (Ingalls) Wilder among its parishioners from 1890-1891. Now a museum, the two floors of exhibits include a Wilder photo display and many other collections of historic significance. The Commonweal Theatre Company - a non-profit, professional theatre company in Lanesboro. Performances nightly (except Mondays) and on Sunday afternoons. Amish tours - A unique opportunity to experience another culture, purchase handmade goods, and see the farming methods of our ancestors. Events "Wilder Fest" - Every August, Spring Valley celebrates its history with this festival. Antique Engine & Tractor Show - Antique tractor parades, railroad and tractor displays, and traditional craft and handiwork demonstrations. This year, the engines will be fired up July 19-21.
